Default Elephants eat PEANUTS and so do Fluke and Stripers

So we took mother nature's lemons and made lemonade on Saturday !!!!
Crossing the bridge I could see the white caps in the angry bay .....
OK...PLAN B.
I knew we had a good afternoon flood tide for the creek with the East blow and continued to the boat with Andrew and Scotty.
With the creek absolutely loaded with peanut bunker we took advantage and one throw of the net gave us the live bait we needed. We fished the wonder rigs with live peanuts and had good action with fluke to 4lbs. Ended up keeping 4 nice fish and releasing a bunch of shorts.
While drifting one of the holes Scotty had a crazy run off that snapped his 12 lb leader .... drag was screaming pretty good. Initial thought was a snag but I was not buying it. Had the guys put fresh livies on and I went back for the same drift..... BANG.... two rods bent over.... ended up that we found a concentration of schoolie stripers under the peanut bunker. Played around for a while with good catch and release striper action. Nothing big of course but great fun on light tackle. After about 2 hours the winds really kicked up and the rain kicked into full gear chasing us off the bite. Ended up being a really nice trip close to the dock.

Thanks Freddie ....you as well with that beautiful grouper and tiles offshore.. Awesome.

So that bigger fluke Andrew caught was literally stuffed to the gills with shredder blueclaws....you can see the bulge its stomach in the picture. It shows the predatory instinct of the fluke for it even bother with a peanut bunker. When I cut that fish I have never seen a fuller stomach. Most often they will purge when hooked but not this guy.

So kind of ironic..... we fished Matawan Creek Saturday where the shark attacks occurred killing two in 1916..... Nat Geo was just at our Marina shooting a special segment on this event and today Andrew is Shark Week feature for Bentley University football....
