Default the jig in on!!!!!

saturday was good jigging most of the trip.there were times when it slowed but
most of the day was good.i got what i needed early and went into cr mode.fishing was good enough to go back out sunday,so i did.what a difference a day makes.i stuck with the jig all day and did not have a fish till 1:30pm.from
then till we left it was drop and reel fishing.i ended up with 8 nice sea bass and countless shorts.doubles were the norm.we were getting ready to head in and my
teaser was all beat up so i slid what was left of the destroyed body off the hook.now i have a 4/0 hook bare above the 27 and decide to make on more flip.
i hook up 3 turns off the bottom.as i am bring the fish up i see i have another
double header as one ate the bare hook.great weekend to be on the water.

I give you credit.. Last week on the Big Mohawk they slammed the jig, mostly shorts and smaller keepers, and then maybe an hour or two into the trip, the jig bite really shut off.. I and many others bailed out and put bait rigs on, but a dedicated few stuck with jigs, bite or no... most of them did just fine... The bait got hit instantly, but the double header 9 inchers became very wearisome after a while.. Thinking about it now, I wish I had done what you did, and stuck with jigging.. I might have had a few more keeper size fish... bob

yep.. caught 2 of those SOB's on consecutive drops.. One was a frigging monster as long as my leg, and almost as ugly.. Every time I hook one, on the way up I have this fantasy that THIS time, its NOT a pout, but is actually a 9 pound fluke, or a 15 pound Cod, and I will be happily counting the pool money in short order. Then I wake up and see that ugly big dirty brown thing squirm under the surface, and then I hope that my line breaks.... never does... bob
