![]() What's NJfishing!!
So I just bought the license so I can set two crab pots with the kids and was wondering what crab pots do you guys recommend. I don't mind spending extra cash for quality. Never crabbed before so any info is helpful. Thanks |

![]() Where you crabbing out of? What traps you looking for? Maryland overnighters or box traps? IMO the kids will have a much more fun time with drop lines. More info and we can point ya in the right direction.

![]() I want to be able to drop them in the water before we go fishing by the boat slip and retrieve them when we back. I also bought them the traps with the collapsible sides they can crab with while I'm cleaning fish/boat and gear.
Unfortunately, kids need to always be entertained if you want them to fall in love with the outdoors. This weeks Fisherman mag has a great articular on crabbing Going to checkout Atlantic Bait and Tackle. Any further info on crabbing would be appreciated. Thank you |

![]() The $2 license for two is for Maryland style Pot that do NOT have doors. They are the ones you leave overnight with and identifier for you license from the state.
The ones that open are traps. You need no license and there is no limit to them. Obviously crabs can come and leave. In a pot they are stuck inside until the door is opened usually at the top by you. Topless traps can be stacked on each other to save room in the boat. SO good there. While the POTS are large usually a cube 3'x3'x3' and do not collapse. Personal experience shows that the smaller 2' version of these pots catch less than the three foot version. PM me if you have any questions. I crab a lot!
