Default the bigger fish are here and hungry

started out at 9am saturday.we arrive at the cove we wanted to fish and its ice covered.we make a few passes thru it and let it sit for 20 minutes.we head back in and anchor up.nothing at all for the first 20 minutes.then i get a hit and set the hook.this fish is ripping around the boat giving my ultra lite the business.after a quick battle i lift in a nice fat yellow perch.it was no slaughter but a real steady pick of the x-large yellows.this went on for an hour, they were all over 12" and most over a pound.then the white perch showed up but they were all cookie cutter 7" to 9" and full of fight.soon after the crappies, sunnies and shiners joined in.it was real good catching till about noon then slowed.we picked up and headed to a new spot, nothing.left there and off to another spot but that was a bust also.we head back to were we started and it was fish on right away.there was allot of small fish to weed thru but it was well worth it.kept 12 good ones for diner and the rest were released.both jig and small husky jerk work well.we fished till 3 and call it a day.with so much good fishing i had to get out sunday morning also.i decided
to go hit a bunch of spots around the lake.i start at 8am to find its 30 degrees, the wind is howling and snow flurries.1st spot i hit starts slow but
starts to give up a few big crappies. i catch half a dozen{all released} and decide to move on.next two spots are give no love so i move on.hit the next spot and the same, nothing.so i go back to were i started and pick a few more good crappie that were sent back.the crappie were all nice and i'm sure once we get a few days of sunshine it will be game on.all and all a good weekend.

Great report! I finished my oil changes on my boat this weekend and just need to clean up the inside a little. I'll be on the lake Thursday with my brother in his Dirty Hooker 1(my old Mirrocraft). Can't wait!

nice work opening up that spot sometimes you have do some ice cutting to get to the fish. i was on the north end of the cong sat but only managed to get one friggin slime dart on a mini mite and bobber. hope the sun and warmer temps turn it on soon.

Nice job sir! My son was out with me at a local spillway and he ended up catching a ton of yellow perch this weekend too. May have to take him to the bridge to try there too.

I can not wait, I headed out saturday early morning and could not even get a bite and tried many lures and jigs. After about 11:30 I could not put my jig into the water without pulling in a fish to the boat. These were no normal sized perch either lol but only perch, nothing else. Hopefully next time I go I'll be able to catch more species. But always a great time just to be out on the water. FISH ON!!!

Mike.

had bigger females and feisty monster shiners in the same area as last weekend.

pink trout magnet 4' below the bobber was the ticket.
