Of course it would change the targets. If you want a longer season like NY has, vote for a larger size limit.

Well...we'll know Saturday. Looks like the weather breaks and we'll be able to get out. It's a long way off but....fingers crossed!

Then you could close it a week earlier. Most guys are out of the water by then.

NJ can make decisions on dates and bag limits to be whatever we’d like them to be subject to feds approval. Problem is with current quotas assigned to us by the Feds we’d need to horse trade days or bag limits from other dates to move them to another and we shouldn’t have to do that with all the fish around. The Feds need to give us more fish and then we at the state level can decide how to make best use of them. Having more fish is what we want and fighting within our own state council would be a nice problem to have.

With all the days missed due to high winds, rough seas from offshore storms and also rain and extreme heat not to mention fish not biting due to all off the above. How can it possible be said we overfished our limit! And to top it off besides the party/charter boats the bay and ocean are like a ghost town during the weekdays with the majority fishing on the weekends. It just doesn't add up!

It's not meant to add up just support the results the federal government wants which is to maximize the harvest of the ocean's bounty commercially and move more of select stocks to the commercial sector to maximize economic impacts. It's really that simple. Sad but simple. The ocean and it's bounty were never a bargaining chip to be horse traded for votes and graft, today that's all it is with the increase in demand for seafood worldwide.

I was down in CMC today and they still are cleaning up. Avalon looked bad with crews shoveling sand from the gutters. The ocean is still stained but I saw guys fishing the rock piles and bridges and the inlet but didn't stop to check on their success.

Water temps dropped only 3 degrees in some areas out front and a tackle shop told me as of yesterday, the back was still 70 and some guys were catching on top water at night.

Until we see some reports from guys that have been out to the rocks and reefs where the Sea Bass, Tog,Porgies, and Triggers were being hammered a week ago, this is all conjecture.. With all the head boats switching over to Stripers now, we'll probably never know for sure if the Sea Bass have all moved on... bob

I hope to go out and try for them again if the wind and the seas ever decide to calm down!
