Good to see and shows the stupidity and corruption of our government. Cooke, which is a Canadian Co. acquires Omega Protein and the majority of their harvest of bunker is sent to salmon farms in Canada for feed. Substance over form, who in their right mind doesn't know Cooke is now under the control of a Canadian Company and depleting domestic resources for their own benefit only to sell a majority of those salmon back to the US putting our own salmon fleets and processing houses out of business. Cooke should have been kicked out in 2018 for violating Anti Trust laws cornering the market of the most important stock on the Eastern Seaboard. Before long, we'll probably see legalized whaling by Japan in our local waters, is it really any different.

This is no different than when the United States bartered our public resources to Russia and Eastern Bloc countries which destroyed our ground fish stock back in the 1960s and 1970s. Canada is just going about it in a different way.

I find it amazing that the Belford guys who Bunker fished for over a century got basically put out of business by the Big boys! It's all bullshit people. Money talks and that's the bottom line.

Was just talking about this the other day... Used to see a lot of Belford boats out on the water and haven't seen any in quite some time...

We also have big out of state fishing companies from North Carolina fishing for fluke by us... They wiped out their stocks to the extent that there is no recreational fishing allowed for them this year in NC yet the commercials are still allowed to fish and come up and take ours.
