Default South well fluke

Headed out with Brad, Bob , and Chris today .

finally a break in the South winds (until 1pm )

But fluke fishing was very slow , baits and fish were like ice coming off the bottom .

Had temps from mid 50’s to 62 throughout the day .

plenty of shorts wanted to chew , but only 6 keepers hit the ice. .

I had my limit , the other guys 1 keeper each

.probably a dozen or more short fluke for each guy .

And a bunch of ling .

.

50’s to 62*. Wonder what temps are 60-70 feet down?

Thanks for the report Dan and glad you got some We were probably close by each other within a few miles. We got 7 keepers and some large robins plus plenty of shorts as well. Seemed like water quality got better off of LB and once WT got around 60 with a little Sun the bites were more active vs a "scratchy bite" in the early am. By 9am ish the bites were more aggressive and the few keepers chewed. Fish and boat bait was cold as you said. Agreed slow day but better than recent and will get better soon.

Same results for us SGR and Axel. Bottom temps way colder. Should have ran way north.

Cold water down deep up north also. Read 71 degrees top, but in 30-40...much colder. Bucktails and sinkers ice cold.

I’m fishing north also .
Title was supposed to be south swell lol

I have found where the dirtier water from the bay meets the clean water to be as much as 5 degrees warmer .

The surface temp swings I’ve seen this year are the weirdest I’ve ever encountered.

I’ve seen 80* at the dock, 75* mid bay, 68* at the Hook then 57-62* around Scotland and East. All on the same day!

Some crazy fluctuations for sure.
