Default GAMBLER --Sea Bass and Fluke Report

The Sea Bass action continues. Good fishing on sea bass. Not as many fluke recently due to fast drift. Our best day for fluke, so far, was our first day out, when we had 25 keepers. Most days since then, we have been anchoring because the drift was too fast.

A good percentage of our sea bass have been keepers on the Gambler, but not many big knuckle-heads in the bunch.

We have seen an occasional cod, pollock or ling --and even a couple big winter flounder have been taken (I wonder --What if someone actually targeted winter flounder on the trip....???)

Just to be sure, I have had some guys that think you cannot catch fluke on anchor --and that you cannot catch sea bass drifting. That's not true at all. It has everything to do with knowing the conditions. I'm going to do whatever I believe will be most productive and fun on every trip. If the drift is not suitable for catching both, we will anchor. We were anchored in the rain yesterday and two of our customers had enough sea bass --and were casting-retrieving back to the boat and they each caught keeper fluke. Both types of fish hang-out in the same areas often!

Gambler is fishing everyday, except Mondays, running 8AM till 2:30PM

Tomorrow, Monday, Gambler is running a long, 10 hour sea bass trip to see if we can locate the bigger variety. We'll run 3 more of these long trips, all on Mondays, 6AM till 4PM. Tomorrow's trip is booked-up. So if you are looking to join us on one if these, book early! The last long Monday is scheduled for June 12th.

Hope to see you aboard

Capt Bob and Crew

Almost forgot Parker's nice fluke, caught yesterday, while casting and working it back to the boat.

Capt. What fish is that next to the fluke?

Were they catching the fluke on grubby or gulp type teasers or on the jigs themselves?
