NJ Public Access: Greenwood Lake Launches Update 2/18/22
Hey Everyone,
Hope everyone is doing fine. Last night we attended a Zoom meeting with the NJ Outdoor Alliance. They are going to help us to see that bill S-987/ A-1047 makes it through the legislature and onto the Governor's desk. Right now, we are seeking DEMOCRATIC support in the form of Primary Co-Sponsors to this bill which will require DEP to provide public access for boats to certain State-owned lakes...apporpriating $1 million. Bill S 987/ A 1047 is currently in the Environment and Energy Committee on the Senate side, and the Environment and Waste Committee on the Assembly side. We need some "D"'s to become primary co-sponsors of this bill. Senate Environment and Energy Committee Bob Smith (Chair) 732-752-0770 216 Stelton Rd., Suite E-5 Piscataway, NJ 08854 SENSMITH@NJLEG.ORG Linda R. Kennedy asmkennedy@njleg.org Sterley S. Stanley asmstanley@njleg.org Don Guardian asmguardian@njleg.org Shama A. Haider aswhaider@njleg.org John F. McKeon asmmckeon@njleg.org Bethanne McCarthy Patrick aswpatrick@njleg.org Gerry Scharfenberger asmscharfenberger@njleg.org PLEASE KEEP THESE LEGISLATOR CONTACTS SAVED AS WHEN THE TIME COMES AND THE BILL IS BEGINNING TO MOVE WE ARE GOING TO ASK YOU TO CALL THESE REPRESENTATIVES AND PUSH FOR THEIR FULL SUPPORT IN THE DIRE NEED OF A PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH RAMP THUS FIXING THE INJUSTICE THAT PREVENTS THE CURRENT PUBLIC ACCESS ISSUE. Certainly you can email/contact them NOW....but it is critically important that we do so once the bill starts moving. Will let you know when this occurs. Since we have not received many email contacts on our petition, we are asking ALL WHO SIGNED TO MAKE SURE when the time comes you call into the offices of the above committee members. What you can do at this time is to contact the following legislators and ASK IF HE/SHE WOULD SIGN ON TO BE A PRIMARY CO-SPONSOR OF THE BILL: SENATOR VIN GOPAL 732-695-3371 SENATOR JOSEPH LAGANA 201-576-9199 SENATOR NILSA CRUZ-PEREZ 856-541-1251, 856-547-4800, 856-853-2960 ASSEMBLYWOMAN PAMELA LAMPITT 856-435-1247 PLEASE THINK ABOUT ATTENDING: The NJ Outdoor Alliance will be hosting a wild game dinner fundraiser at The Black Forest Inn, 249 Hwy 206, Stanhope, NJ on Sunday 3/20/22 (Cocktails starting at 4:00 pm) We can meet Bob Smith (Chair) of Senate Environment and Energy Committee who will be attending. - meet your pro-outdoors state legislators that champion efforts of NJOA - meet with fellow sportsmen and sportswomen to celebrate our rich heritage and enjoy bounty from our forests, fields, and waters - 50/50 raffle and thousands of dollars in outdoor gear in tricky tray auction Tickets = $100 Contact Arnie Ulrich NJOA 201-304-4691 or kavester@aol.com www.njoutdooralliance.org VERY IMPORTANT TO RUB ELBOWS WITH THOSE THAT HAVE OUR BILL IN THEIR HANDS! Over the past several days, 67 sign on letters have been sent out to a list of democratic senators and assemblymen/women in the NJ Legislature all across the various districts of the state. All will become at least familiar with the public access issue we face. This is what it takes to get a ramp built people. Please continue to help us and show your support. Again remember when it it time to call in and the bill looks like it is starting to move, we will make you aware here since our petition collected relatively few contact emails. Want to thank everyone for their support and hope for your continued help in this venture such that Greenwood Lake will get its Public Launch Ramp as well as other State-owned lakes. Keep you all updated. Greenwood today.....your lake tomorrow...... UFANJ Last edited by muskynut; 02-20-2022 at 09:01 AM.. |

Re: NJ Public Access: Greenwood Lake Launches Update 2/18/22
Capt. Dave,
I applaud yours and others effort in this initiative as obviously a lot of works been out in to get it this far. I wonder if the Homeowners Association who was awarded the easement giving lake front homeowners exclusive access rights to a lake funded by taxpayer dollars had to go through the same tedious process you and others are to recapture those rights. The number of politicians and political committees identified in your post is dizzying. It's precisely why most people give up, the levels of bureaucracy is mind numbing. Unfortunately as you pointed out, you either rub shoulders and play the game, make a sizeable contribution or lose. Best of luck in your continued efforts with this, you've certainly earned your stripes. Money, power, inflated egos and control, that's all this country is about anymore. Values and principles went out the window a long time ago. Last edited by dakota560; 02-20-2022 at 09:16 AM.. |

Quote:
Homeowner Associations come in (investors), developers come in, someone's pockets get lined and exclusivity is bartered away so the investors can sell that privilege and maximize home values. It's an absolute disgrace unless there's push back and an outcry from the public so on behalf of many thanks for your time and efforts. Hopefully you see this through to a successful conclusion. |

Re: NJ Public Access: Greenwood Lake Launches Update 2/18/22
These 4 legislators were mentioned during meeting with NJ Outdoor Alliance to be solicited and asked to be potential sponsors. Ex Perez has son that likes to fish, etc. we could get positive outcomes/support potentially from these democrats. Doesn’t matter which districts they represent.
