Manasquan inlet fluking

Hey guys, my daughter and I headed to the Point Pleasant side of the Manasquan Inlet for some fluke. Bite started off slow, ended up with 5 fish, the biggest being 17 inches even. Even though no keepers, we had a blast fishing for our favorite saltwater fish.

I fish Manasquan Inlet anywhere from 2-5 times a week (in fact just got back about a hour ago). Next time you go try fishing by the the stretch by the playground and just west of there. I’ve been able to pull a good amount of keepers from there in the past few weeks up to 22.5 inches (& have seen fluke to 24”s caught).

I noticed in your video that you said you were using 13 ounces of lead....were you fishing mono or braid ? Both setups that I use at the inlet have #15 braid with a #20 mono topshot. I regularly use between 1-2 ounces of weight, on occasion 3-if I have to go above 3 I’ll leave .

Like yourself, I primarily use a single killie on a 2/0 hook for bait. I’ll also use #15 mono for a leader.

Hey, thanks for the advice, we really appreciate it!! We were using mono and the current was crazy!! We will definitely try down by the gazebo next time, we may be there this friday. Thank you again for the tips!

Awesome video and great seeing the family spending time fishing. That wall and inlet is where I cut my teeth fishing with my family. Your video brings back many great memories. Thanks for sharing. Your daughter is going to be women angler of the year at some future point. Love to see young adults learning about the fishery, nature and conservation the right way. Really, really good stuff and kudos to the entire family.

Actually it's your daughter who made my day and you and your family for posting the video. So the thank you is all mine to you, your family and your daughter. This video, I think there was one of you guys clamming and the crabbing vid was excellent. Hate to say it but she had bragging rights that day, actually maybe on all three days

This is what recreational fishing is really all about and why collectively we need to protect it. I know it's about catching fish, winning tournaments, bragging rights, catching the fish of a lifetime or one on a home made lure or custom tied fly. Or the challenge of finding a new spot on your own that finally paid dividends after all that effort. That or you can just follow JDTuna or Fast Eddie and fish where they do

But more than anything else it's about a recreational activity that gives kids a chance to experience time with their families, enjoy a sport they can be involved with for life and learn the valuable lessons that go along with fishing, respect for the outdoors and being conservation minded.

Not everyone will understand what I'm saying and some will think it's fluff but the smiles a young boy or girl have when they go fishing with parents, grandparents or siblings will be the best memories they have in life. And as much as they'll cherish those trips for life, we'll cherish those memories forever. Can't tell you how great this post was as well as CMA719's (Mark's) post in the fresh water forum about his son catching his first flathead and the smile on his boy's face. It's hard to beat stuff like that in life......glad people are taking their kids fishing and sharing those memorable experiences on the site. GREAT stuff!

Most times she has bragging rights, lol. Already at 11 years old, she's one heck of a fisherman. Shes been fishing since the age of 3. And i agree with everything you said. We cherish our time in the Outdoors and to be able to document it in video and have something that we can watch years down the road is priceless
