![]() My fiances father is turning 60 this year and loves to fish, but he works a lot and doesn't get to do it very often. This year we wanted to get him a trip for his 60th. We'd prefer somewhere we could drive to to save on cost, but are open to anything fresh or salt! He's an awesome guy and deserves something like this. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

![]() I have been enjoying float trips on the Salmon river for steelhead lately. Truly gentleman’s fishing with beautiful scenery and monster trout- many highly skilled river guides in the area. If you stay at the Best Wester Plus in Oswego(30min ride from salmon river) you can fish there too- good luck enjoy👍

![]() You're a good man Hoo... I'll ask the same question as Mikey. What time of year?
Not sure what he's into fishing wise but tough to beat our Striper Fishery here in NJ, especially spring and fall...

![]() What does he most like to fish for bass, trout, salt species?
Does he prefer rivers, small streams, ponds, lakes, surf, or deep sea? For 60 you want to set up a trip right in his wheelhouse, you don't want him to have an OK time, you want him to have a GREAT time! There are many great driving distance trips just depends on the time of year and target species. If it were my 60th birthday trip I'd opt for Maine for landlocked salmon and smallmouth. |

![]() Thanks all! His birthday is in two months. Historically, he loves trout fishing but also enjoys the salt. He came out on a party boat special trip with me last year and he absolutely crushed the bonito on an epoxy jig.
there's almost too many options ![]() |

![]() It he's mostly a trout guy then go trout, 2 months out puts you in late April, prime season NJ and southward. Early season NY northward. If you can defer the trip until May or June then it opens up closer options in the Catskills or PA. Andy S. suggestion of floating the upper Delaware should be a contender, that's a great trip. Other good ones would be a Lehigh float, Pine Creek in PA, or anything in the Ashville, NC area. You can also do a multi day, trout and salt. That's the nice thing about being on the east coast and one of NJ's redeeming qualities, you can be in the mountains in the morning and the ocean in the evening.
