Lightbulb South Branch Rockafellows dam:

Looks like a big article in 2017 Freshwater Fishing Digest about dam removal.
Tear them all down, and get rid of that one in Clinton with that old mill on it.

Grew up 2 miles from there, was a great place to swim and fish until a few people drowned there @1979- one being a girl from my school and an electiral worker who had a heart attack trying to save her- which my next door neighbor witnessed ... a short while later i believe a kayaker drowned when he got caught in a tree.

Haven't fished there in tears even though my mom still lives around the corner.

What's with the signage on that lil dam? Doesn't seem that important looking with how run down it looks.

Any reason dams like these are protected?

The owner is a real j/o, with a capital J/O !! They stopped stocking trout there, no access = no trout.

I guess it was a freudian slip ...i was around 13 at time and thought i was invincible despite being caught in the undertow of that dam on at least 2 occasions myself.

It was either later that summer or the next, where at the next dam up river, at what we called elbow dam, that i lost my grip on the back swing of a rope swing over the river that took some chips out of my skull as i slammed into the rock ledge that we swung from. That dam had some good fishing back the too, but now as I think about it that was a pretty crappy stretch of time otherwise.
