Default lure strategy

Was wondering what everyone's lure strategy was? Conditions remaining the same I get to a spot, fan cast a search bait for a half hour (altering retrieve to cover water column), switch lures for another half hour, then switch spots after an hour.

Just in general? Depends on water quality- if I can see anything to match the hatch or if I get a feeling- generally I go short on big water movers or fast retrieves( cranks big jigs with craws rapalas to an extent)
If I don't get any love I go soft plastics or other slow baits.
Also varies if I'm in the kayak- boat or shore
Boat I have at least two rods ready to go- so I just throw and put down- yak I have a senko so if something seems like a good spot I'll drop a worm after buzzing it with whatever- shore is above

i don't even know how to begin answering this haha, depends on species, lake, season, etc. most lakes i have a good starting idea of what i'm going to need to use depending on the target species and season. in general, i'll have at least, one each of aggressive and finesse lures and different ones to cover the bottom or whatever depths i'm going to target. I'll go through what's worked in the past. i usually don't bother changing color unless the water is murkier or clearer than usual for the particular lake. Size usually makes more of a difference in my experience so i'll downsize or up-size maybe if i'm not having luck. and try different retrieves slow it way down or speed it way up. and if nothing else works and i'm running out of time i'll usually go in my bag and try a lure that no one would ever think to throw in the current conditions haha...it beats the skunk more times than you'd think!

was thinking more of duration than selection. how long would you give each lure and when would you change spot?

oh. well if it's a completely new lake i'll think of the most similar one i've fished at that time of the season and start with those same lures and probably use it for a few spots maybe 30 minutes to an hour. if i am marking fish that i believe are my target i'll stay in that spot and try different lures until i don't mark them anymore. I'll try at least 3-5 lures before i move on in that case. If i'm not marking anything or it's a shallow spot i'll make 2-3 passes with 1-2 lures and move on

The more time you spend retying and moving spots = the less time your lure spends in the water. Just my $0.02. I get impatient too, but it seems sticking with the plan and being patient really pays off. I always have 2 setups rigged and alternate between them for a change of pace. Only moving when I've thoroughly worked over an unproductive area, or when I get tired of catching too many fish (YEAH RIGHT!).
