![]() Looks like I'll be heading out on Friday night to fish for some porgies. Never been on a party boat porgy trip. Can someone give me advice on rods and reels? What depth water I can expect? How much weight you all fish? Thanks.

![]() I used my medium power fluke set up last time i went. It was a Bogan rod with Avet SXJ reel 20 pound braid. Small hooks on a high low rig. It was fun on the lighter tackle.

![]() Light to medium action conventional or spinning outfit will do. Nothing special needed. High low rig with small hooks. Do not go any bigger then 2/0 As for how much weight you will be using that all depends on how deep Capt will be fishing and what the conditions will be like out there. I am guessing 3-8 oz should cover all your bases. Give Capt a call on boat you will be fishing (sounds like the Fisherman) and they will be able to give you the best advice

![]() If going on the fisherman, no braid allowed during the nite trips!

![]() Thanks for the advice. Yes, the Fisherman is the plan. Not thrilled about the no braid rule, but I understand....stripped 2 reels today and replaced with mono. Anyone else planning to head out Friday night?
