Had my boat out for the first time Tuesday and fished a few spots to clear the dust from the boat. Had two keepers and way too many shorts. My cousin had twenty fish without a keeper.
Left PA at 03:30 today and were at Ambrose at 6. Picked at the shorts and found some life up by the corner. Caught a couple of keepers nothing special. Then while working a bucktail the rod I am dead sticking doubles over. As I am reaching for it the rod holder, which was attached on the side of the motor well, comes apart and my Star Rod and reel are heading for the deep.

I took the rod in my hand and tried to wrap the line in the disappearing rod only to drop that rod in too.

Needless to say it got real quiet in the boat. All of a sudden my buddy Ken says he has something and he amazingly reels in my Star Rod.

Would LOVE to tell you there was a PB fluke on the other end but I was crazy happy to have that rod back. Kept fishing and eventually had tide against so decided to head to some rocky spots down south. Caught some more keepers with my friend Scott getting his PB fluke at 21 1/2 inches. Had the pleasure of playing Gerry's game of putting a dollar in the pot for anything but a keeper. Had huge fun with that and my son Chase won the pot when it was at it's biggest.
Used various rigs and baits but white Spros or white skirts worked consistently better. Scott's fish was caught on Nuclear Chicken Gulp however.
Got blown off the water by some spectacular thunder storms. Great day in the water can't wait to get back out.
