![]() Went for a night at Spruce the other day to check if the herring were spawning and if there was any action.
I usually target catfish at Spruce, but this time we came home without a single cat biting! If they are spawning or getting ready, I didn't know they would be off the bite completely... Caught a bunch of sunfish before the sun went down, and then it was white perch and baby hybrids all night. Herring did start splashing around midnight, into the night, so they are starting to spawn! Did not hear any fish blowing up on them yet, but i'm sure the action will increase into late June. Will be back for the catfish in late june or early july, wish me luck! |

I haven't caught any decent-sized channel cats all year there. I'm not sure what the issue is. Maybe the water is too cold? Maybe the fishing pressure and subsequent harvest pressure has increased? I don't know. ![]() .
