River Pike (10/17-18, 2015)
Saturday:
Decided to join one of my good friends trout fishing in the early afternoon for a little while. We ended up fishing a local river, but it was quite crowded and we didn't end up seeing much. I had one hit that didn't connect. After an hour or so, I had to leave to run some errands, including respooling some reels. On the way home, I was tempted to hit the river for a few casts, given that conditions would be good. I only had about 15 minutes to fish due to dinner plans, and I decided to give it a shot. I immediately headed to one of my favorite spots, and on the third cast I caught and released a nice 35" class fish.  Sunday: I had plans to fish with a good friend from Germany that was in town for a few days. Cold temps and high winds meant kayaking was not going to be comfortable, so we decided to hit the river. The action was pretty good on mid-sized fish, and we had many swipes and caught some fish. My friend is an excellent fly fisherman, and he ended up having some action on the fly rod, and released the first fly-caught river pike I had personally seen. Ended up being a good day despite the cold. The fish had some beautiful colors on them as well.

Some quality fish, very nice. If you dont mind sharing, what kind of flies was your friend using for the Pike? My gf has been on a mission since I bought her fly rod in April to get one on the fly. Lots of follows and a few hookups, but none landed yet.
