![]() Hey all. Im back asking for more advice. I am looking to invest in a couple new rods and reels for the upcoming season and was wondering when the best time to buy is during the year. I have been looking around and do not see many sales even though you would think this would be the time for them. I would also like some advice on baitcasters for not a beginner but a novice, with smaller hands. I am looking to spend probably a couple hundred tops per combo, preferably closer to 150. I will be fishing for bass and pickerel almost exclusively. Any advice or comments at all are appreciated!

![]() Look at Diawa Tatula reels. The 100H is a very good all around reel good for throwing plastics, jigs and hard baits. you are better off to spend more on a reel because of the better bearings in it. They also make some very good rods at a good price.

![]() for $60 bucks you can't beat a Pflueger President spinning reel.
paired w/ a stcroix premier spinning or mojo bass rod is great. also bought a Field and stream elite rod at dicks for $60 and it works really well. for bait caster try bass proshops pro qualifier or Pflueger supreme. really good reel for under $100. best time to buy is holiday season! |

![]() Upcomming sports and outdoors shows may have a few deals bit nothing that going to save you big bucks.
I like the rockland community college show. MELTZERS sporting goods always has a nice selection and some deals. Buy in bulk and make a package deal offer.

![]() Thanks birdman. Already have a president that i enjoy. Just looking to get a few more setups so I can have a few specialized for certain things. thanks for the rest of the info. Its easy to read up on reels but hard to find what rods to pair it with for certain applications

![]() For a good bait casting outfit that won't break the bank, consider a Lew's Speed Spool or Speed Spool Tournament on a Berkley Lightning Rod, Lightning Shock or a BPS Tourney Special. A Speed Spool and one of those rods will put you right around $150 for the outfit. Jump up a level to the Speed Spool Tournament you get a much better reel and still come in under $200. And those rods are hard to beat for the money

![]() Ryan, when buying multiple sets of reels I would suggest getting the same model reels. Yes they do come in different gear ratios dependent on your need. If your near Fairfield, NJ. Stop by Fairfield Fishing Tackle. They are very Knowledgeable in Bass Fishing if that is what you are doing. I would suggest looking at the Diawa, or Lew's line of reels. they will give you the best bang for your buck. Also when they need to be serviced they are easy to do. As far as rods go there are many brands that make rods that can be used for multiple applications. I hope this helps you some. Stop by Fairfield Fishing Tackle.
