Default Any ice reports?

Spruce Run is still not quite ready. Any reports from Hopatcong, Budd Lake, Greenwood, Monksville?

Not looking to burn spots here but it might be helpful to those of us looking for safe ice in the early going. Cheers.

i can tell you hopatcong is not ready i live right near it and drive over river stix every day. the shallow coves are most likely safe but that's it. the lake side of river stix was open as up yesterday afternoon and just now started getting ice, even with the low temps i wouldn't venture out. and the main lake was wide open the other day too.

budd? always taking a chance there, saw guys fishing the far side, but i wouldn't do it. middle of winter last year we were fishing there with 5" of ice in every spot then all the sudden we drill a hole in 1"...still don't know how we didn't go through at that moment but we got the hell out of there. I'd wait for like a foot of ice there haha.

no idea about gwood or monks

none of the big waters are ready yet, I have seen guys on budd and cranberry so far. Most of the smaller lakes in sussex county have 3" and more in low lying areas. The snow dusting rly slowed the ice production down, but its been cold enuff to push thru it. The problem is the wind, If it would lay down for just 1 nite and let the main lakes lock up we will be in business for a while, daytime temps are in the 30s and overnights are nice and cold for the next week or two. Just spud anywhere u decide to fish as you go and ALWAYS wear your ice picks. ANYBODY that walks onto ice without picks is a fool, I wear mine NO MATTER WHAT, I was on 18" last year and still have them on, they WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE

be safe out there guys!!

Cong coves looked pretty good tonight. I want to get out somewhere. It's looking like cong coves, a small north western lake, or a small private lake that I know is frozen. I'll probably have my life vest on along with the spikes haha. I've heard swarts might be good to go but I'm not making the trip without confirmation.
