![]() Seeing all these Salmon being caught is making me really want to get out there! Salmon is one of my FW fish on my list to catch. Now I am looking for a little guidance. I am located in Somerset County and I am looking for the closest area to head to for a day trip. I am lucky enough that my schedule allows a weekday trip so day of the week is not an issue.
Any ideas of where to go? Not looking for your secret spot just a general idea. Obviously in NY but the closest possible. Any help is appreciated! Tight Lines and catch em up!! |

![]() I haven't been up there yet, but if you go back and read some of the salmon threads I am sure you can PM some of those who have been up there for more info.

![]() I will say day trips are no joke i live on south amboy its 4.5 hrs from me to tje town of pulaski witch fishing sucked as stated in my report so figure leaving by at latest 113o twelve hit up breakfast tackle shop walk into river in dark to grab a hole. Fish until 4-5 then beat it 4.5hrs home. Add another half hr for where i fished today and Home 22hrs after you left usually i do this friday after work no sleep. So after battling speedster monsters and up for 4o sumtin hrs you feel ecerybit off a butt whooping those fish put in your arms

![]() I would say the same. Suicide run is not something that you would want to do. Just go for the weekend, rooms are dirt cheap now since main crowds already left. Now just locals and those who still want to make it out there. Fish is still around with mostly stellies pushing through right now. Best bets would be Lockport and Rochester areas right now but they are further down. If you need something closer go to Oswego or Pulaski but you will have to work for every fish. For Pulaski areas you can try Douglaston Salmon Run (you need to pay the fee there to fish which is 50 bucks a day) then Jefferson (after you cross the bridge you can walk down to the river on left hand side) but expect a 10 minute walk down the river to get the fish out. For Altmar area you can either try both sides of the bridge or drive a little further down and after a small walk through the woods you will hit the river. And last but not least Pineville areas (private areas there are only 10 bucks for day). Locations listed are for Pulaski Salmon river from the top to bottom. For Lockport use Route 78 to go north. Exact address is 2066 Lockport Olcott Rd. Parking is on the left hand side, then walk down to river and find yourself a nice spot. For Rochester and Oswego areas I have not fished there yet just going on reports from friends. As suggested best bet to get there early to grab a hole and then fish on.
Best of luck. Andre |

![]() No problem.
Use some egg sacks and you will get into some fish. As far as colors go I would get multiple ones and switch them around to see what works the best. Last time I was around orange and red work, this past weekend color of the day was blue. Here is something from this weekend to get your juices going. (Caught by my friend that's why no pictures of me with it) ![]() Andre |
