Angry Weed Removal

Had some time to kill yesterday afternoon and stopped at Car evidence Lake in Lawrence Twp. There was a sign under the "Trout Stocked Waters" sign that said the lake had been recently treated to kill weeds.
This got me thinking... Are the chemicals toxic to fish? What impact will the lack of weeds have on the fry that use the weeds for cover?
Anybody have any thoughts or answers?

I'm certainly no expert on this but I have a friend up in Lake Hopatcong and he and a lot of other people use the stuff regularly. They have a terrible weed problem in that lake and it has not seemed to hurt the fishing at all...

Unfortunately there is no information as to what the weed "herbicide" is, therefore I would be reluctant to keep any fish from these waters unless better advised. However, what may be toxic to the weeds, may not be toxic to aquatic life and humans. If the chemical was specified, as a chemist, I could better provide an answer to the question as I could look it up.

Any one know what they use?

it says, right in the picture, Aqua-Pro

http://www.sepro.com/documents/AquaPro_Label.pdf

active ingredient is the same as roundup (glyphosate). the manufacturer lists Aqua-Pro as safe for use to clear land before planting food plots for wildlife, and roundup is used by most commercial farms to help make the food you eat. i wouldn't worry about the fish.

From my experience the weed killer makes the water cloudy and sometimes makes bass and pickerel act a little drunk. Never seen any dead fish after weed killer tho
