Default Stripers and then teeth..

Started off the morning yesterday in the Western Sound of NY in the salt water. The first 90 minutes was crazy action with stripers between 18 and 26 inches with just about every pass of a rocky shore line. All was good until I lost about a 20 lb. bass that got caught up in some rocks.

I was home by 11 am, cleaned up all the salt water stuff and hit the river in a place I haven't fished in a couple of years. I was about 5 for 10 with pike in the upper 20's and low 30's. Great action, but if the river gets any lower, this spot will done until we get a little more rain.

No precip is great for my pike fishing but lousy for our trout streams. I wish this last round of rain was north and west rather than south & east. We got almost nothing and smaller creeks r running very low.

Nice mixed bag Dan! Looks like were in a dry spell for now. You'll catch fish somewhere regardless. Love that last Pike pic. Well done.

Danny what percent of pike would you say have been caught before/have old wounds??? I was thinking about this the other day and would say most of the pike I get show no signs of being caught before whereas many of the bass have scars.

Buzz, I would say that about 50% have some type of body scars on them, but even though I am sure that I have caught quite a few pike more than once, I have yet to find any scars around the mouth/head area from being caught before. As you know, they are a pretty tough fish !!

That last picture is the money shot! Way to get it done in the salt and the sweet.

Another different, weedy, deep spot tonight for about 90 minutes. Only 2 SMALL pike and a bunch of feisty, spinner bait grabbing pickerel !!
