Default snake pic

A Northern water snake lives in my Millstone River fishing spot. I give it a bluegill every four days.

I used to keep one as a pet. Caught it as a hatchling and it grew pretty fast. Def the nastiest snake I ever had. Bit me a couple times, lol.....

.

Nice pic. Did you know Water Snakes aren't venomous, but their saliva has anticoagulant properties that can make their bites bleed more.

I guess living out in the open and being non-venomous, other than escape, their main defense is to be so ill-tempered and aggressive, they can discourage some predators from feeding on them. (I know some people like that)

That's an interesting fact. Thanks for sharing. I know it stops me from messing with them.

But last year we watched a eagle grab one out of the river, guess it didn't stop the eagle from having a snack
