Default Big D Shad Run

Fished North of the Gap on Saturday from 3-6 pm with Rottilover. We were not expecting much due to the river levels and that cold front we encountered. We decided to give the river an extra day to settle down so we switched our outing from Friday to Saturday but it didn't do us any good. We tossed spoons and darts while wading in the strong current. Keeping score and I'm 0-2 on Shad trips to the Big D so far this year. This is the time of year I wish I lived in Western Jersey. Going to try and clear a day this coming week for round 3..

Hoping to make it up there tomorrow with 2 other people, just north of the gap. If anything is doing, I'll be sure and post. It should be a bit cloudier tomorrow as well, which I find helps.

I had similar results from Belvidere and then down to Lambertville. Skunked, but was at least a nice day.

It's been a tough few trips for us at the gap. I've been there 3x without a hit but I know it's gonna change real soon. Wading for shad isn't easy fishing. You really have to put your time in. Night Crawler , I totally agree on those cloudy days is better fishing. I think those pods of shad run up river a lot better without all that high sun. Well good luck. Predator n I are gonna get up there for daybreak on Saturday. Hopefully we can break in that GoPro with a few shad jumps
