Default Assunpink Lake

Fished by the dam for four hours. One tip-up caught a 15" pickerel. About one hour before dark I sruck it rich in one hole. Ten nice crappies, some hand size bluegells, and six of the biggest golden shiners I ever saw. They were twelve inches long and weighed a half pound. Anyone ever tried eating them? They were sure fat ones that looked like some good frying to me. I didn't realize it, but it was really dark when I got to my truck. Yhe snow on the lake makes it look lighter than what it really is.

Sorry, Jigman

There ain't no Pike in Assumpink.
Closest place in the area for Northern Pike would probably be Farrington Lake, or maybe Carneige Lake.

A better place would probably be Lake Mercer in Mercer park. There are some huge Muskys (both Tigers and pure strain) in there.

However, since they don't allow ice fishing on Mercer, you probably have to sneak out behind the tennis courts or way down by the dam. I've done this several times over the years and was able to get in a few hours of jigging with the perch, but I always got caught and threatened with a ticket....for what I don't know.
