I crimp a heavier leader to a small treble hook. the heavier leader holds it straight.

I use plasti dip all the time never thought of using it on the hook what a great idea

I did just the opposite. I fish mostly 5-8 oz jigs in the ruff stuff.
I did away with the stingers in all types, and use gulp instead of strips on the bucktail. They def EAT the whole jig , and I feel they have more action WITHOUT the stinger there. |

Hey Hammer, been a while......
....You're right, I agree that some days you're better off without the stingers. The days when I see the quick, short bites (when you're losing the tails on grubs or the free flowing piece of bait) are when I want to have these ready to rig up and they do produce. To me it's like the colors you use, some days its pink, some days chartreuse wins or some of the specialty colors. Always good to have plenty of options on hand..![]()
