Default Soggy Bottom Boys Report from 10/19

Flatcreek and myself just can't seem to pry ourselves away from Spuce so we tried again. We fished from 9:30am to 6:00pm. Conditions were so so was pretty calm for the better part of the morning and then the wind started crankin in the afternoon. We tried some of everything in our arsenal from planner boards to drifting and anchoring. Herring, liver, Binsky's we tried it all. Def NOT for lack of trying. I think i saw smoke coming out one of his ears, he was trying so hard to put us on the bite. As always we had a great time, never a shortage of laughs when we get together. I ended up with one hybrid and one crappie and we had a couple more bites between us but no more hook ups! Thanks to Phil for taking me out and thanks to his Grizzly Bear, she makes a wicked sandwich! Just can't seem to figure em out this fall, water temps are still in the lower 60's they seem like they are still scattered all over with no predicable pattern yet! Was planning to do manasquan sunday to see if it is the same down there but feeling like a sinus infection is coming on so took the day off.
Trying to figure out what to do next weekend cause the fishing hasn't been too good as of late and it's def too early to call it quit's! Anybody been to manasquan lately? If so, how's the action? Maybe it's still on since it's an hour south of me? Dunno?

Been waiting to see how you were going to put that day of fishing into words. All I can say is fish hard and don't give up, though I think I'm going to give our favorite res. a break. Your welcome from the bear and me and hears a pic of the nice HB you caught.

We had a rough day as well on Saturday...The old skunkeroo showed his ugly mug.........perfect water temp(60 degrees), light wind, and fall time of year in NJ should have equalled ridiculous fishing for both of us......Threw everything they could have wanted for this time of the year w/ nothing to show.....Had one GIANT muskie follow to the boat but no go on the hookup.......I still don't understand it at all........and I'm still trying to figure it out what we didn't do right......So my point is I totally empathise w/ you on this one......Next time we'll all make up for it I'm sure.......Got some great scenery fall foliage pictures which made up for a lack of fish.......Hang tough!!!

I've been hittin the river Dale. Big smallies, walleye and half a dozen NICE stripers in as many trips. I'll usually toss plugs for an hour or two whenever I'm out. I haven't pulled a 20 lb'er yet this year but I'll keep trying for another week or two. p.s. my buddy pulled a 37in. 20lb fish while we were out on sat.

.

I was at Spruce Run on Saturday afternoon, too. You might have seen my little kayak floating around by the pier.

Fishing was definitely slow. Even the catfish weren't biting and they're usually a given. Maybe the quickly dropping water levels have the fish upset.

I eventually caught a few small Yellow Perch.

this weather is making fishing tough in alot of bodies of water, its supposed to be in the 50s with water temps, not low 60s this time of year. some fish are on fall patterns and some are still shallow, scattered fish w no thermocline makes it tough. I hit swartswood on sunday and was slow til late morning, then the smallies turned on for a while. honking wind too didnt help, all the bait was in 30fow give or take but all fish caught were in 20something, go figure. LH is not launchable and the rest of the good waters are either closed or the fishing sucks. the fall fishing has to start soon and I bet this weekend is the turning point, we are not getting out of the 50s for a while and that will cool water temps and trigger fish to head to deeper winter hangouts, the bait is already there in most bodies of water
