Default Passaic river

Ok. Not looking for anyone to spot burn. Just looking for some help. My buddy and I are going to hit the Passaic tomorrow for some pike/smallie action. Now my question is, am I better off launching below the dam and heading east or above the dam and heading back up river? We will be launching a 16' tracker and will probably only use the electric motor(unless we get into trouble).

Anywhere from above the Dundee Dam in Garfield is Pike and Smallmouth territory....

Above. Below is shallow, rocky and fast moving. Suchorsky Park in Little Falls has a semi- decent ramp.

Ahhh yes Little falls. Caught my first Pike out of that stretch 15 years ago. Had some very large Smallies back then as well. I was wondering about something, do they still have the bass touneys on the Passaic? Used to fish them as well.

So if I launch near little falls and head west, will I be able to navigate the river all the way south towards i280? In a bass boat?

The water is low now and you may have some clearance issues near Two Bridges where the two rivers meet. I would almost guarantee though you will have issues getting passed fallen trees. We had some problems going through the west essex park wooded area in my roommates 14' vhull. Be prepared to beat up the boat a little. Thats a pretty long journey lol.
