Almost ready

Dropped the shrimp off yesterday to have a new water pump installed as a preventitave measure. Also having all thru hull fittings and hoses inspected in hopes of avoiding any dangerous situations.

Looking to splash her in the next week or so. Any other recommendations for a safe season? I can't wait to hit the back bay and try to land the first striped one on the shrimp!

Single engine boat good radios ! Anchor properly rigged w/ ample rode & line for quick hold.
Drift sock , normal safety items distress kit etc.
Spare fuel filter , extra hoses & clamps !
Sea Tow !

All good stuff. Will get a spare filter (thinking about installing water separator), have a handheld radio now will be installing hard wired with high gain ant. soon. Have all CG required safety equipment. Have 150 feet anchor line and 5 feet of chain. Clamps hose sounds like a good idea. Have sea tow.

I believe capt frank would suggest to increase the chain.

Sock to slow down the drift.

Was talking to pete today about switching out the ss prop for sn aluminum one with all the debris out there Thought being. . Rather blow a prop than a lower unit. Seriously considering this.

Water seperator filter.

I got the ss anntena base of ebay (new) 34 bucks.

Good point on the aluminum prop Legal. Let the softer aluminum sustain the damage rather than your lower unit. I also think the benefits of stainless props are more noticeable in higher horsepower engines and larger boat applications where there is more power and torque required at the prop. If you beleive this, it stands to reason that on smaller boats you will not see that much of a difference going with stainless.

Aluminum props flex which can cause innefficency. Inefficency allows the prop and engine RPMs to be higher. So, if you are going from stainless to aluminum you might need to go up a size in pitch and the opposite is true going from aluminum to stainless.

As noted to slow drift if your out ofanchor range. I would add 5' of chain & keep 100' of anchor line with quick connect feature to add if needed fast.
150' of anchor line is fine in shallow water but deeper water 200' plus is required to hold safely .
The added chain will increse holding power significantly, I assume you have STD.


Danforth style anchor !
