Suffix performance braid or tuf line xp. The tuf line is cheaper than power pro and suffix and might be the best.

I really like power pro, 20lb. Braid, with a 10' Seagur 15lb. Leader, I add a small feather teaser, 14" above my jig, had lots of luck last year with a blue and white buck tail ,2oz to 3oz. Good fishing....

Samurai Braid by Diawa 20lb is .009 inch adequal to 4lb mono. It is extra smooth and is really quiet even if you have titanium guides. If you want the best this is the one. It an't cheap....

Lighter line, lighter leader...lighter bucktails under the right conditions equals more fish....Maybe not bigger but more.. Leif

20# is as low as I'll go - if you're short on mono shock leader the rocks and wrecks we fish are not very forgiving to 10# braid

In the Raritan Bay or Sandy hook Channel lite bucktails and ''no srtucture'' is the ticket for ultra lite braid .As Alan said ,for structure you need a good strong top shot.Last summer the weakies were thick in Chappel Hill channel.10lb Braid and a 3/8oz buctail was a suicide rig.If you go on a PB you still have to control your fish to avoid tangles.I would use a min of 20lb braid.I am not a big advocate of braid for stripers but i do like it for fluking.Remember braid is unforgiving so set your drag properly.

Late in the season I realized that my biggest fluke were hitting one of my smallest baits and it had to do with the action.
This limited me to 2 oz and that meant the thinnest and strongest line - using 10 lb spider wire braid with mono leader. I would have no problem keeping this rig clear of everyone else on a PB - I would work the under the boat and cast up current or upwind and work it like a wet fly in stream. |
