the wandering spider is found in bananas. when shipped by boat the spiders would be found on the vessels. this is what I have been told about the origin of this superstition..

Funny. I told this guys about the wandering spider on saturday, as I tossed his snacks overboard (4 bananas)

I put a banana in LAB's bag on the first PUOSU, he left me off the trip the following year Thank god he got over it by the 3rd PUOSU and he invited me back

I miss that little pain in the azz

Been saying it for years ! NO BANANAS ! But sometimes I'll use a Bingle Banana for those of you who remember old school !

Without showing my age I definitely remember the Bingle Banana. Must have a green or red one dry rotted in some tackle box somewhere. Was a great lure back then.

I have a couple, I redid the tubes and still use them occasionally. I met Don Bingler at a show a few years ago and he gave me some of the second generation, they were shorter on bead chain swivels.

Back in the day of sailing ships the crew would carry limes to fight scurvy ,so the called them people limeys. Well the bananas in the hold of the ship would emit gasses that would ripen and then rot the limes. Put some fruit next to a banana and see what happens?
