Default Transducer Q

I'm about to install a transducer on my 14' tracker jon boat. I was talking to a friend who has quite a bit of boat experience and he recommended that instead of drilling holes below the waterline I mount the transducer using marine quality glue/adhesive.

I'm running with a 6hp motor or electric trolling motor so we're not talking high end speed and performance so I think it should hold up at the maybe 10-15 mph max that I'm going. The idea of drilling holes below the waterline makes me nervous and this seems like a plausible option. Any thoughts?

On a side note I just bought a new SUV and need a trailer hitch installed. I'm in north NJ. Any recommendations on who does good work?
