water/fuel seperator
What is the procedure for checking for water in fuel. I have a 250 yamaha four stroke with about 40 hrs on it.

What filter?
Many O/B filters have a clear bowl that allows you to visually check. If its a canister type filter w/o a clear bowl, remove the filter and pour into a clear, clean container. You'll see right away if you have water and how much.

What Duff said. And, some of the Racors with the clear plastic bottoms on the filter, actually have a plastic nut that can be unscrewed to drain any water that has collected in the bowl with out having to remove the filter or bowl. Just put a cup underneath to catch the fuel/water.
