Default Fluke after a storm..

Was having this talk with a buddy at work today.. It has always been my experience that the fluke fishing takes a couple of days to recover after a storm like we had last night and today. He says it has no effect on the fluking.. What do you guys think?

I've always noticed that after a "heavy" storm that the fluke bite slows quite a bit probably due to cloudy (dirty) water, it seems that when the water clears (after a few tide changes) the bite picks up again. That has been my experience.

also, the salinity of the water changes as all the rain water dilutes the seawater especially in the bays, i think open ocean, not so much.

I tend to have the same experience. I guess by tomorrow morning, everything should be settled.

I’ll be out tomorrow so hopefully I’ll be telling you how great it is to fish after the storm.

So let’s just say this myth was busted today. Between myself and my friend we caught 30-40 shorts in the bay today along with our limit up to 5lbs and threw back another 5 keepers. We left em early when the bite got crazy as we were limited out.

2 or 3 tide changes and you should be good to go depending on how bad the storm is
