That's batshit. People fish 20 yrs and dont hook makos that big. That's a #350 fish. Who wants to deal with that, kill that or eat something that old?

Give me a barely legal to #180ish and fire up the grill! This will do significant damage to the northeast tourney circuit. And put tremendous pressure on already pressured shallow water threshers.

Have you considered that discouraging anglers from targeting mako sharks might be the new regulation's goal?

Why yes, I have. This shouldn't impact recreational anglers. It should directly impact longliners, their gear and methodologies. I think it's stupid and short sighted. You can't keep 1 sexually immature mako but you can kill a ripe #350+ female? Wanna save em? Slot them. Shorten the harvest season.

I'm on the fence there with all out closure bc once they ban something you rarely get it back; but sometimes shit happens and a shark gets gut hooked or dies during a long fight. Just let it sink to the bottom of the ocean?

No pot stirred but we all know we get bent over a barrel every year as recs bc of the huge impact commercial netting and longlining has on regional seasonal biomass.

The best part is the commercial regs on long liners....if the shark is alive they have to release it...yeah right. I can see that happening.
