Caught 21 lb and 6.5 lb carp with my homemade corn meal bait in Carnegie Lake Saturday night.

Returned the next day and landed 35.5 lbs of carp from the same spot with the same bait. The 2017 NJ spring carp run is at its peak now as they are schooled for spawning.

I give them to people from Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and Central America who know how to make them taste good. Smoked carp is delicious.

Those carp are huge, well done!
In my opinion they taste good when fried, but only if they are young carp around 1lb in size (usually 16" or so.) Then they have a decent sweet white meat flavor. When they get old like that, they taste horrible haha. Too bad most of NJ carp habitats are heavily polluted rivers anyway. |
