![]() It was rough out this weekend. Fishing front I caught and consumed a few rock bass and let me tell you they taste real good. Boats where abandoned at the campsites and I saw one bass boat was full of water.Ranger gave him some rope to tie down better. I guess they will get boats when wind is better. Saw two paddleboarders come in at campers beach with no life preservers. they walked over and asked to use phone to call office and get picked up. they were still there when we left. Was a wavy and wet ride out for sure. GF found a water snake in her things when we got back. Guess it came in the boat when it filled with water.

![]() I was out there on my yak between 5am and 8 AM Saturday morning. Breezy but not too bad. Can't see how anyone can go out there without a PFD especially with windy conditions being in the forecast.
Fishing was slow. Only managed a dink lmb and a handful of rockbass. It was 44 degrees when I left the house that morning and figured the cold front wouldn't help the fishing.

![]() I was out on my kayak on Saturday morning at Merrill creek. Had to fish the coves, the lake was like an ocean with 2 footers breaking. Stayed for about 3 hours then had enough of fighting the wind and packed it in

![]() Took my dog to round valley on sunday. Was shocked how many kayaks were attempting to go out with 20-30 winds. Fish and wildlife were out telling ppl to return to the dock. Even saw an inflatable raft in the middle of the reservoir.

![]() I've been camping there several times with high winds and it isn't fun. If you beach your boat waves break over the transom and fill it up.
One time I had to get rescued. I was leaving the campsite and couldn't launch the boat into the teeth of the wind. I had to stand waist deep 55 degree water to keep my boat from swamping. Finally I called the park police and a boat came to rescue me, but not before it got caught on the rocks too and I had to swim out to help them. I think I might have wrote about that here after it happened a few years ago. |
