Default Father's Day Fishing Trip

My kids gave me the gift of a late afternoon fishing trip from 2-5pm. With all the rain I opted to pass on the river and headed west. I am a baitcasting rookie but after practicing all winter on my front lawn I set out to use it exclusively. The wind was unrelenting the entire time and controlling my kayak was a task. I ended with 4 bass, another lost at the boat, 1 pickerel and 2 fish that took my lure but I failed to get a hookset. Most fish were caught on edge of pads and I am happy to report no bird's nests.

Sweet...No birds nests is an awesome feat in the wind! I forced myself to use my baitcasters and have learned to really love them in certain situations. Particularly like that they work better with flouro and no line twist issues that can sometimes happen with a spinning reel and the thumb control to get a bait to land when you want it to. Keep using it...there really is a reason that they keep making them!

Nice fish as well...glad you took advantage and got a day out.
