Default Wildwood/cape may surf shark fishing

ill be down in the area end of June into July and specific info is rare it seems. Last year I tried and it was pretty frustrating. Woman at the bait shop was no help and the spots I tried sucked (my fault).

Anyway in short I'd be happy with just a small class shark but I'll only get a few tries at it so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Hell, I'd be happy with a big Ray haha.

Had good success in that area fishing at night. Chunk bunker, heads seemed to work the best.

Might be good near the Loran tower inlet (Hereford?). Take the bridge into Cape May, follow the signs to the beaches, when you get to the ocean turn left and go north till road doglegs left. Park. Enter the beach and head North, you'll need beach tags. From there South to the boardwalk is swimming beach during the day. As with most places if you are civil and don't leave a mess, you'll have a good time. I've seen people catch 4 footers 5 miles up the coast on the bayside livelining small sandsharks.

thanks, some places are a little confusing down there as far as where you can fish or not or where you can be at night or not. there are a lot of signs everywhere with a lot of different rules and times on them. the area i tried last year in wildwood area was way too shallow for way too far, i couldn't really even clear the breakers with my casts. I'll def be heading down to the capemay area instead this time around.

I've also had bad luck trying for surf sharks until last summer, few things I learned was water temp 70 and above is key, forget the bunker or any other type of fish..... catch eels the big ones that are about 3"-4" round and chunk them. I've had multiple hook up nights using eels and lost a few that spooled 300 yards of line on me.4' to 5' Brownies are all over in august but the big sandbar sharks get up to 8'.Low or high tide has not made a difference either just find the cuts.
