Default round valley sunday

My dad and I are planning to go to rvr on sunday. We have gone and caught a few Lakers before but want to also try to catch a few rainbows or browns. Is it at all effective to have the planer boards and flat lines out with using the down riggers in 70+ ft of water or does the wire hum and all the other stuff make ttoo much noise? And do the trout there even suspend over the super deep water? Well i geuss if theres bait they will but there doesn't seem to be much of that.. We also have stacker clips so we could have two rods up in 30 or 40 ft for the trout. If you could just throw some ideas at me that would be sweet!

most of the trout early in the year are up high and near the shoreline, I dont hear or see much doing in the deep water unless ur hugging bottom depths for lakers. It doesnt hurt to stack rods in case, I always do on RV. Planer boards are good if u have enuff rods, theres always the occasional fish up high. Its still early but in a few weeks theres a slight thermocline usually at 20-25fow and alot of fish sit in that zone, thats where I run my planers and stackers, the rest down deep. If im running bottom w one downrigger I wont stack it cause Im working it as depth changes to stay 5 ft off the bottom. U can always go into the cove or a good shorline and liveline/downline some herring, always catch fish that way

Velveeta cheese at night in 40 ft of water, you'll get sick of catching rainbows. Live line herring or shiners just below the surface for browns.

Tips for trolling any deep lake in our region , two items that can & will help u catch more fish ,not what most think!
# 1 Down temp gauge ,tells u where most fish will spend their time
also allows u to outline thermo for trout

# 2 Topo map of lake displays likely holding areas ,much like an FF tells u
whats under ur boat
Pre thermo vertical patterns R best - once thermo forms like now horizontal patterns or tight vertical within the correct temp range wiil give u good shots.

LC outfits rule for trout now sans Lakers which forage closer to bottom unlike most of ur brns & bows etc.
Hi Lining can be useful off the boards stagger those lines down to strike temps!
Stick to areas that show depth & drops close to shore , fish will roam so dont be afraid to cover ground! If hits come from specific depth then coordinate ur efforts there.
Use light leaders in clear water & 8 to 10' in length ,let lures dictate ur speed evry lure runs at a specific speed best ,coordinate those as well into ur pattern.
Keep aacurate log of how u caught depth etc ,ea season this can be valuable to start ur troll. Contours, dont move temp ranges can flex , bait fish travel1
ff can show u acticve fish on bait pay attention to these details all can heklp u have a successful day.
Low lighr , choppier days or eves by far best !!
