Default Excellent Topwater Action

Fished aboard a NS today. After reading reports over the past several days I came prepared with a variety of topwater plugs as well as the traditional AVA jigs. Were on the grounds before any other party boats and it paid off. Caught fish on my 1st, 2nd & 4th casts. Had 6 by the end of the first drift. Next two drifts were a little slower before it dropped considerably about 9. A few were being picked on A27s, so I started throwing one. Did come tight on a fish for a few moments before it spit the hook. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised to boat a 21.5” fluke on the A27. Once the tide changed after 11, the fish popped back up and once again it was game on until the horn blasted 3 times. My final count was 25 bluefish boated (from #4-10), came tight on another dozen+ but they spit the plug before being boated and the fluke. All my bluefish came on a topwater plug-either a popper or a spook.
