Re: Need a Crabbing spot
Boat or shore and are you looking to go to Barnegat bay or navesink/Shrewsbury D??
I’ve not been out yet but spoke to someone yesterday who is in the Toms River area who said the big ones moved in a week or so ago.. Not sure about the navesink/Shrewsbury area but maybe someone will chime in here... Lots of public docks in the Seaside Park areas on the bay side and a little more quiet then Seaside Heights... Not many public docks on the Shrewsbury Navesink area but there are few so if you want to crab that area you might consider renting a boat..

Re: Need a Crabbing spot
As Gerry said not many docks. Can rent a boat.
The front street bridge in RB I've seen lines (box nets) off of. Seen some people off the back of the hotel at OPyster Point crabbing with box nets. Or wade out an toss off the flats on the NE corner of the Oceanic bridge with is the Middletown side ( parking there too) . I think Fairhaven town has a public access dock too. Or even rent a two person kayak at Oceanic marina. Hope that helps some

Re: Need a Crabbing spot
You could try dock outfitters dock in seaside, have to get there early fills up quick. They have been doing well there.

Re: Need a Crabbing spot
Try Bayville. Lots of areas to sneak into and crab from the shore. There is also a pier at Berkeley Island County Park. Heard they were doing really well there. Good Luck!

White-leggers ? j/k
Keyport Pier is free, snappers are in, crabs too but not that great. You can scoop 'em off the pilings and set some traps while you and the girls snapper fish. Have fun.

Re: Need a Crabbing spot
Personally, I would stay away from the crabs from the Red Bank area. The water quality in the back of the Navesink is very shaky.....The water in the Navesink River is beset by high levels of pollution from excrement and nobody can say definitively where it's coming from.

This might help you too, although it looks like the 2 public ramps I saw in Rumson and Fairheaven said " Daily ramp permits not available; purchase annual permits at municipal officeFee for RampRestroomLighted Boat Ramp"
