Default Manasquan- Blues

Pretty good Bluefish bite on Sunday on plugs. Mostly 3 Lbs. fish with an occasional 10 Lber. Not an insane bite, had to put in a little work. All in 4 to 6 ft. water on the flats. West of Rt. 35. Not sure what the deal was, but had a lot of followers and short bites.

Seems like an odd year already. Blues late arriving and instead of the monster gators we see early spring it’s the mid summer 3lbers?

I’ve been fishing west of the canal and have been picking #3-5 blues for the past 10 days all on plugs. Saw only one jumbo caught @#15. Water was noticeably colder on the incoming this morning.

Made a few stops at the inlet but best I could do was get a few follows. Only saw one caught there and that was on a chunk.

On a more positive note, I did catch a nice striper and saw enough quality fluke caught (& released) that I know where I’ll be fluking on Friday.
