mad gaffer striped bass report Monday 11/6
striped bass report Monday 11/6, We started out a little bit slow, trolling Mojos the first fish that we hooked how ever , was on for about 10 minutes, I did not know what it was . I thought it might've been a cow nose ray , but it proved to be a striped bass . In my tenure as a fishing boat captain, close now to 50 years, and before that a Deck Hand , I've seen lots of big striped bass. I grew up in an era both in eastern Long Island , and here , where Big striped bass we're not that uncommon . Since I've owned this particular boat , I have had at least eight bass that I can remember, that were 50 pound plus , and several on my party boats . But this one was by far the biggest one I've ever seen, the customer amd the crew on the boat all got to see it, Alex my Deck Hand got a shot at it with the gaffe but came back with only a scale, I think the fishes skin was so tough , and the scales were so big Alex couldn't penetrate the fish on the first shot. Unfortunately that was the only shot he got , And we saw the Fish swim slowly away. The fish was no less than 5 feet long , with a giant head , and giant girth. Truly the one that got away. Later , As the tide started to run the fishing got fantastic, we limited out, and released several dozen nice fish , All taken on bucktails drifting . It was a shame to lose that big fish, but it was a privilege to have seen it, and to know these big fish still exist. We have an open boat on Wednesday Thursday and Friday, as well as the weekend . A good deal of fish seem to be moving into the Area , and as I looked around , l saw everybody catching them ,not just me,so this would be a good time to call your favorite boat , and get a spot . Call for information and reservations

Glad we are all on the same page now... It`s easy to misinterpret a post and come back like a bear. Done it myself too many times. Humility is a good thing. I am sure Jberg will agree. Here`s to tight lines boys!!!

That truly is a fish story! At least you and your crew got to see this monster Bass. It just goes to prove always be prepared for the big one cause you never know when the fish of a life time is going to show up. I am sure that's one fish that you and your crew will never forget!
