Quick trip to new water
Found a trout stream within 20 minutes of my house that I didn’t think held anything, guess I was wrong! Took a quick trip after work, got to the spot and flows were definitely low. Took my first cast and the rod almost ripped out of my hand, and I thought I was on a snag, but apparently I stuck a nice trout but ended up losing him to a big jump. Pretty sure it was a brown too.
Walked downstream and met a nice guy named Joe who gave me some good intel. Thanks for that! Water looked pretty but most holes were too low to hold fish. Found a few more good ones and fished them each for 10-15 minutes. I saw a hole further downstream that looked too good, but the trade off was overhead high pricker bushes. Decided to just close my eyes and get through it, which didn’t go so well, but got me close enough to take a cast into the hole. First cast into it, I landed this pretty bow. Released him quick and started to take thorns out of my arms good scouting trip, almost didn’t go, but as they say, just go! |
