Fishing during the second ice out in NJ
Went ultralight jigging in a 36 degree Central NJ, lake this afternoon on a cloudy, cold day with a 30 knot north wind small craft advisory. Wind chill was 37 degrees. Nearly got hypothermia. Lake was mostly ice covered when I arrived but mostly ice free when I left. I witnessed the second ice out for this winter in NJ. Saw 8 other fishermen catch a few fish. I caught and released 33 white perch to 9”, 11 yellow perch and a bluegill with Walmart red worm halves on two gold hooks and a 1/32 oz unpainted leadhead jig on 4 lb test line. Landed 853 fish in 28 trips to the same spot with 4 containers of worms 🪱 this year.
