Default No Skunks

I pass Monks on my commute to work everyday, and now that I have my canoe setup dialed in, I've stopped twice to hit it in the last 3 days. Sunday I wanted to get out for a marathon fishing day, and a close friend of my wife and I, Rachel, wanted to come out with me. She hasn't really fished often before, only once before with me from shore as far as I know, and I warned her we'd be out there for awhile. She assured me she was ok with that, and we hit the water early that morning.

Got some intel from some longtime NJFers and started fishing hard. I tied a ned rig on for Rachel, thinking it would get her SOMETHING, but it ended up getting her a fish I haven't even been able to pull out of there yet, and a nice one to boot. Somewhere in the 17-19 ballpark.

A short while later, I connected with a decent LMB to get on the board.

Rachel got one more small bass right after that and the bite shutoff. We fished hard for 5 more hours but nothing else decided to play nice. No skunk though!!!

Fast forward to today, I mentioned to Rachel on Sunday that I might hit the water again after work Tuesday. She reached out and wanted to go out again! We did a quick after work trip of 3 hours and both managed some dink bass.

Avoided the skunk once again with some little guys. Hope to continue to figure this place out over the coming months and years.

Love seeing the rare positive Monksville report! Speaking of rare, congrats on the walleye! It's a beautiful lake and that canoe is a nice setup for there.

I second that, pretty calm waters out there when the wind is cooperating. Good catches!
