Last cast fish 🎣
Cooked up my first batch of homemade corn meal bait this afternoon then went carping in 56 degree muddy, flooded Carnegie Lake on a cloudy, cold day during a sou’wester small craft advisory. There was current in the lake from flood water release. My flood spot was no longer underwater since the water level was much lower than the previous day. Threw out a can of ShopRite extra crispy whole kernel corn 🌽, then hooked a big fish 🎣 with a 1/32 oz twister tail jig on 2 lb test line near the shore. It made a long run through the candocks to my left but threw the hook after a long fight. I didn’t use my 4 lb test outfit. Caught a carp belly scale after a yank with a #8 red treble hook on 12 lb test line. On my last cast of the day, I landed a 3 lb common carp on my corn meal bait.

Re: Last cast fish 🎣
Love the old school tackle in the pic.. Its the kind of gear I like to buy and use.. Mostly all garage sale stuff for a buck or two.. It catches fish!
Looks like an old made in France Mitchell 300 you are using.. Still have a lot of those and most all of them work great after 50-60 years of use... Good to see you still make good use of yours...bob |

Re: Last cast fish 🎣
Congrats on catching that 3 lb common carp with your homemade corn meal bait! Sometimes bigger fish can be tricky, especially when using lighter line. Maybe next time, try the 4 lb test outfit for more control.
