Default lakes and swamps (pike-pickerel hybrid?)

Nick and I with some cool catches.

A few outtings last couple of weeks on the lake got us some larrys, smallies, slab crappies (both with some under 14 inches) and pickerel.

Then this weekend a float through the swamp-river and we got some nice pike, best going +30 inches but unfortunately i let him slip before a photo.

We ran into almost every species, perch, bluegill, pickerel, pike, bullhead, lmb, and smb. nearly hitting the NJ SWAMP SLAM but we never found a crappie.

Other noteworthy catches;

A chunky 16 inch SMB, my biggest out of this river.

a pike-pickerel hybrid (?); looking for input on this, never saw one before, is it a hybrid? it fought the wildest out of any fish the whole day. jumped and flipped clean out of the air twice like a tarpon.

Nick caught a 14 inch bullhead, dragging a jig on the bottom looking for crappie.

I should've pinched the tail and the crappie mightve broken 14"

Still can't believe you found those smallies in that stretch. Im glad they helped cure your smb withdrawal

It'll only get better from here (til winter at least lol)

Thumbs up Re: lakes and swamps (pike-pickerel hybrid?)

Cool catch bros! Solid mixed bag action all around! Looks like a young Pike that hasn’t developed its adult colors yet. Cool looking fish’
