Bunker for hybrids
Hey everyone, Has anyone ever tried bunker for hybrids at spruce run? It seems like it’s pretty hard to buy herring in that area, so I was wondering if using bunker chunks would work? I’ve done a few searches and came up empty. I did find one post about using sand worms.
Thinking about using cut bunker, once I get the fish finder set up I thought that if I anchor on a drop off or some other fishy spot that might work. Any thought??? Thanks |

Shiners or chicken livers

Re: Bunker for hybrids
Chicken livers for sure... Trim the harder parts from the goop for threading on your hook and chum with the left over goop!

Re: Bunker for hybrids
Give it a try and report back!
FYI, The Sporting Life on Rt 22 in Whitehouse Station almost always has bait. Give them a call or private message MikeyTopaz on here.

Re: Bunker for hybrids
A few years ago I had some luck using nightcrawlers on a drop shot rig. Caught quite a few too. Experiment with the length between the hook and sinker. White perch liked this rig too.

Re: Bunker for hybrids
Thanks everyone, next trip I’ll bring chicken liver and bunker and see what happens.
I’ve been to the sporting life a few times, I always try to support local shops, I just wish he would open earlier. I usually stop by on my way home to pick up tackle for my next trip. |

Re: Bunker for hybrids
HAHA, see what happens is your vehicle will stink for like a week after getting chicken liver and bunker goop all over yourself. Kidding aside, good luck. You don't know if it will work until you try. The bullheads will eat either one, so at least there's that.

Re: Bunker for hybrids
Haha, thanks Fred..I learned the hard way a long time ago that bait goes in the back of the pick-up. We went striper fishing one night with eels, picked up a dozen at the bait shop, apparently we hit the beach with 11....the 12th one was found a day later....talk about a bad smell!!
